Friday we celebrated my brother in law's birthday with a craw fish boil. I just ate the corn and potatoes that were in the mix. I'm not a seafood fan = /. There was also some awesome dirty rice that I scarfed down. Sean jumped in the pool for literally 3 minutes. Thomas said he was fussy and didn't seem to enjoy it, I think the water was a tad too cool.

Then Saturday morning we headed to Dr Pepper, Texas to celebrate the 119th birthday of the Dublin, Texas bottling plant! For those of you not completely informed about the whole Dublin Dr Pepper situation lemme learn ya. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas (1885). The first bottling plant was in Dublin, Texas (and for the birthday week they change the name to Dr Pepper, Texas, fun) So when they first stated bottling Dr P they used natural cane sugar. I guess over the years they switched to substitute sugars, cheaper I suppose. Anyway, the plant in Dublin still bottles Dr P with natural sugar, Imperial Sugar. So it tastes a bit sweeter and I think has a more pleasant after taste. I think that's all correct, go google it if you want more info, haha.
So what is my connection to Dr P? Why would anyone have a story connected to a drink anyway, weirdo. Well, i attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Before Waco I don't think I had ever even tasted a DP. Our house was a Coca Cola home. Anyway, I grew to like it, nay, love it! And the first time I had a Dublin DP was with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, in a float. How could I not like it with a combination like that! ok, I'm getting really worked up over here. There are others that share my love for DP! I promise, I'm not crazy.
Back to the weekend trip to Dublin, Texas. They have a bike race and a run, the Tour de Pepper and the Dr Pepper 10k, 2k, and 4k. Why 10, 2 and 4 you ask? Because you're supposed to drink DP at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. Back in the day the doctors realized that there are natural lulls in our day at 10:30am, 2:30pm and 4:30pm. And what helps to fight those sleepy times? Sugar of course! So load up on your sugar in a can at 10,2 and 4!! Ok, so Thomas did the bike race, 34 miles, with a friend of ours from Baylor. He's married to my roommie from college, Emilee, and he was on the crew team with Thomas and I. So glad we got a chance to meet up with them. Thomas got 3rd place and Jarrod got 2nd. They both won an over sized bottle cap and a case of Dublin DP. Thomas didn't make it home with his case so Jarrod shared two six pack with us, yay. Probably better that I don't have a case of DP sitting around!
