Weekend Fun

We had a pretty chill weekend in Waco. Hung out and home and explored toys. We also went to a friend's son's birthday party, the Walkers son Ryan.
testing the water
it's the babies' turn.
this "pool" is the receiving end of a giant inflatable slide! The older kids had a ton of fun
oh, not too excited about this. It was a tad too cold.

Biter Biscuit

We attended my nieces 2nd birthday party a while back and her mom gave the little babies party favors specialized for their babyness.  Included was a Biter Biscuit. Sean was no where near even knowing what to do with the biscuit so we tossed it in the pantry. This Sunday Thomas brought it out for Sean to try. We have recently been giving him puffs (sweet potato flavor) and baby cheetos (veggie flavor). I was there when Thomas first gave the biscuit to him. Then when I came back, like 3 minutes later I found the mess that everyone refers to when babies eat the Biter Biscuits! I also heard that it turns to concrete if you don't wipe it off baby before it dries!

He doesn't have teeth yet but certainly enjoyed gumming on the biscuit!

yep, let's rub it on my feet just to make this more interesting

oops, dropped it, thanks for giving it back dad. i know you totally wanted to gnaw on it too

It eventually became a soggy mess and he bit a piece off, so the fun ended there. Followed by a bath!

Over the weekend...

Friday we celebrated my brother in law's birthday with a craw fish boil. I just ate the corn and potatoes that were in the mix. I'm not a seafood fan = /. There was also some awesome dirty rice that I scarfed down. Sean jumped in the pool for literally 3 minutes. Thomas said he was fussy and didn't seem to enjoy it, I think the water was a tad too cool.

Then Saturday morning we headed to Dr Pepper, Texas to celebrate the 119th birthday of the Dublin, Texas bottling plant! For those of you not completely informed about the whole Dublin Dr Pepper situation lemme learn ya. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas (1885). The first bottling plant was in Dublin, Texas (and for the birthday week they change the name to Dr Pepper, Texas, fun) So when they first stated bottling Dr P they used natural cane sugar. I guess over the years they switched to substitute sugars, cheaper I suppose. Anyway, the plant in Dublin still bottles Dr P with natural sugar, Imperial Sugar. So it tastes a bit sweeter and I think has a more pleasant after taste. I think that's all correct, go google it if you want more info, haha.
So what is my connection to Dr P? Why would anyone have a story connected to a drink anyway, weirdo. Well, i attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Before Waco I don't think I had ever even tasted a DP. Our house was a Coca Cola home. Anyway, I grew to like it, nay, love it! And the first time I had a Dublin DP was with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, in a float. How could I not like it with a combination like that! ok, I'm getting really worked up over here. There are others that share my love for DP! I promise, I'm not crazy.
Back to the weekend trip to Dublin, Texas. They have a bike race and a run, the Tour de Pepper and the Dr Pepper 10k, 2k, and 4k. Why 10, 2 and 4 you ask? Because you're supposed to drink DP at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. Back in the day the doctors realized that there are natural lulls in our day at 10:30am, 2:30pm and 4:30pm. And what helps to fight those sleepy times? Sugar of course! So load up on your sugar in a can at 10,2 and 4!! Ok, so Thomas did the bike race, 34 miles, with a friend of ours from Baylor. He's married to my roommie from college, Emilee, and he was on the crew team with Thomas and I. So glad we got a chance to meet up with them. Thomas got 3rd place and Jarrod got 2nd. They both won an over sized bottle cap and a case of Dublin DP. Thomas didn't make it home with his case so Jarrod shared two six pack with us, yay. Probably better that I don't have a case of DP sitting around!

Friiiiiday!

I'm not blogging from home so all I have is a picture I copied from my FB album and one from my phone. The other weekend there was a garage sale down the street across from our friends house. My friend was sweet enough to call and let me know of the sale b/c there were nice baby things there. She has three kiddos and I'm assuming plenty of baby things. Thomas snuck away from work to check it out. It was on a Friday morning. I didn't know people start garage sales on Fridays, crazy. Thomas got some awesome toys that were well taken care of. A lil table Sean can stand at (pictured), a walker training thigamabob, a farm barn with animals and tractor. Annnd Thomas picked out some nice collared shirts for little man. Along with the onesie pictured below, too funny!

The three of us hope to enjoy a one day supermini vacation this weekend. To celebrate Dr. Pepper!! One of us will drink a ton of Dr. Pepper, one of us will ride their bike for 34 miles and one of us will be super cute.

Nothing Exciting!!

Thomas made it back from China last Thursday! He didn't bring back any over sized items like he did last trip. He brought me back a nice summer dress though! I always gain a lot of respect for single parents/ spouses of deployed soldiers when Thomas leaves on these trips. It wasn't quite as bad as last time because Sean now sleeps through the night and doesn't eat as often as he once did. But we did miss him and I know he was glad to be home. Nothing else exciting going on. We are excited for the summer...not excited about the heat. We start sweating even before we head out the door in the mornings! I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer! Peace out!
