Kayla is 8 months!

Monday February 27th Kayla turned eight months old!

Here are some random things about our sweet little girl.
• on the verge of crawling. She went from pulling her knees in, to inch-worm crawling to lunging to army crawl in a few weeks. I'm sure she will be completely mobile soon!
•likes playing with things that are not her toys. Pieces of paper, hair bows, my phone, sean's trains, tracks and cars, nylon straps (like on her high chair, stroller, diaper bag) anything she can get her hand on goes to her mouth.
• rarely content to just sit. She needs entertainment!
• scratches her head or left ear when falling asleep in my arms to bottle.
• just loves playing with Sean
• still enjoys bath time!
• I think she's going to love food.

Wow, 8 months already! Goes by too fast!

Going all the way back to last Saturday...
We gave these cuties a mid-day bath before grandma came into town.

My mom brought this guy to give to us. Works pretty well on our textured linoleum. It cleans with steam and it is said that steam cleans the best (kills germs).

Saturday night we ran an errand without kids!! Our first stop was the new 711 in town for a Slurpee!

Monday, monkeys just hanging out, watching a DVD my mom brought us.

Happy girl.

Monday night breakfast for dinner. Mini pancakes dipped in syrup. He normally eats these little pancakes in like three bites. He was taking the smallest bites possible so every tiny bit could be soaked in sugar. Just like mama.

Tuesday we went to the park and Thomas taught Sean how to blow on the Dandy Lion weeds.

Sean also swung on his own for the first time. Such a big boy.

Wednesday in the back yard. Sean was already heading out the door so I threw whatever clothes I could grab on K.

They are playing together more and more, so fun.

Kayla is now able to pull her knees up under her body and in the past few days she has mastered the inch worm. While lying on her belly she digs her feet down, pushes and launches forward then pulls herself forward with her arms. It's kinda like a bad army crawl. She'll get there...

Sean picked up dads hat and put it on Kayla's head. He saw me put it on her head while we were at the park the other day. It's so fun seeing how your children learn. It also really makes you think twice before tossing shoes down the stairs or hollering at the dog cause that little person will mimic you so well :)

Saturday we did another fun activity from the preschooler learning activities book.

I usually adapt the lessons a tad because I don't always have the exact items. But it works!

We also had a bag of Sean's socks with one blue, and a bag a popsicle sticks with one colored green.

I was trying to hold out for her first food being avocado but we couldn't find organic avocados.
So sweet potatoes it is! She loved em!

And that's all for us! Hope you had a good weekend.

Week recap

Not many pics this week.
Monday - drawing with markers. Sean drew this in one stroke. I exclaimed "Sean you drew a bird!"

He pulled out his cloth wipes and gave our ottoman a good wipe down. Thanks Sean for helping keep our house clean.

Sean looking at himself on my phone's screen. Too cute.

Tuesday- My Valentines Day breakfast made by Thomas. A flower omelet!

Thai food for dinner.

Coffee for desert. I was pretty thrilled to actually sit in the coffee shop. We usually do drive thru or run in and run out with kiddos. We were definitely that old couple looking out of place. People were probably wondering why us non college folks were invading their hot spot. "you too will be old like us one day! You just wait and see!"
The taste of my frozen coffee totally takes me back to freshman year. Every time I drink it I think of my hall mates and walking across campus in our heard of like 8 girls.

Kayla keeps growing!

Sean's new belt made by our leather-working friend. Now Sean can wear his own and not his dads old one. Both very cute!

Sean 2.5

February 12, 2012 Sean turned 2 1/2 years old!

on our way to church
Sean is a sweet and silly boy. Every day he says new words and becomes easier to understand.  He adores anything with wheels but especially trains. His imagination is taking off. I love hearing him talk while he plays. There is still jibberish but here and there you'll hear words and phrases. Like "top of the hill", "crash", "cranky", "faster, faster, faster" and many more.
He is becoming more interested in Kayla too. He will bring her toys, blankets, her bottle. Just his morning she was gnawing on one of his trains and I gave her some baby rings instead to play with. Sean took the baby rings away and gave her back the train. So sweet,  I guess he assumes she loves trains too. They way he talks to her is adorable too.
Our bedtime pray with him consists of a memorized snippet from a baby bible book that is similar to the Lord's Prayer. We recite it while he folds his little hands in prayer. But since he is now able to repeat words we say we prompt him in prayer. We say things like, "Thank you for daddy" and he'll say, "doot do dada" and "thank you for Kayla" which comes out "doot do Keeya."
Well there's much more we love about this little guy but it's nap time right and and I don't think I need to explain why I want to wrap this up.

We just love seeing him grow, play and learn.
Hard to believe it's already been 2.5 years!

Week recap

train play Saturday morning

a friend's doggie, snuggling with Pooh

Grocery trip saturday late morning
Sean busted into the blackberries
I thought her little outfit was cute!

cutie again

Thomas stayed in the car with the kids while I ran into a store. I came back and found Thomas had opened a box of cereal for Sean and made a little snack bowl out of a piece of paper! haha

some yummy lunch on Monday
I made a copycat recipe of Chuy's Jalapeno dip
I'm not sure how close it is in taste, but it sure was good

I left Kayla's unfinished bowl of rice cereal on the table and Sean took it down and began feeding her. So sweet, especially when she opened her mouth for it. He did pretty well, except the first spoonful went just below her eye, eeee. I love seeing them interact more and more.
Cutie before her nap, so smiley

We went on a family walk and didn't even bring a stroller. Sean walked the perimeter of the entire neighborhood! Which is a mile! We were excited for him. Thomas asked if we could get him to cover a marathon (26.2mi) in a month's time. I said that's a little much for a two year old, haha.
Dad has big goals already!
Here he is hydrating after the walk with one of Thomas' water bottles from a fuel belt.

Kayla's set up for the walk.

Here is Sean back in the day. He's a little younger in this picture than Kayla is now.

I was preparing a crock pot meal during the late morning on Tuesday and Sean was interested. So I set him up with a bowl and spatula to stir some Cheerios.

Later Sean began kissing and hugging all of Kayla's little baby toys. He said "hug" and "kiss" each time.
