14 Weeks with Baby No.2

I feel like I should be further along in this pregnancy. I feel like I've been pregnant longer than just 14 weeks!

We went to a doctors appointment yesterday and we listened to baby's heart beat. It was as fast as it was supposed to be, all mumbled as if under water. I really tried to remember the number she said, 163? maybe. All I can remember was the number on the scale! And my blood pressure was "excellent". We asked about any ways to prevent gestational diabetes, because with the previous pregnancy I had to take the second glucose test because my first test numbers we high. I didn't even find out the second test numbers because I was already in labor before they could call me with results. She did look to see what my second test number were and they were fine. And she said there's nothing you can do to prevent gestational diabetes. We also asked about chances of another preterm labor. She said the chances of another premature birth is less than 50%. And we'll just have to "see how it goes." There isn't really anything that definitely causes preterm labor. Sometimes it's infection, like with me, sometimes they don't know what caused it. Looks like we won't find out the gender until the end of April. We will share if it's a boy or girl. If I find out I can't keep it a secret!
On the nausea front things are easing up. I'm more mobile, but still have some bad moments. I missed my last acupuncture treatment weeks ago due to weather, they closed their office. So, I never went back for the last one. I'm glad I did try it because I would have wondered. And it was a nice break/nap in the middle of my work day. I've broadened by food intake some. Still sticking to natural, mostly unprocessed foods. I had a lovely lunch at Rudy's BBQ with friends. And it helped that we sat and talked forever so my stomach could settle. Annnnd they had Dublin Dr Pepper on tap, glorious! If you don't understand what the big deal is.....read this excerpt from a previous post when we visited Dublin, Texas.
Then Saturday morning we headed to Dr Pepper, Texas to celebrate the 119th birthday of the Dublin, Texas bottling plant! For those of you not completely informed about the whole Dublin Dr Pepper situation lemme learn ya. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas (1885). The first bottling plant was in Dublin, Texas (and for the birthday week they change the name to Dr Pepper, Texas, fun) So when they first stated bottling Dr P they used natural cane sugar. I guess over the years they switched to substitute sugars, cheaper I suppose. Anyway, the plant in Dublin still bottles Dr P with natural sugar, Imperial Sugar. So it tastes a bit sweeter and I think has a more pleasant after taste. I think that's all correct, go google it if you want more info, haha.

mmmm..Dr Pepper

Sean 1 1/2 years old!

Sean is 18 months old today!
You are walking everywhere these days. You haven't had too many falls at home, I'm sure day care is another story with all the other kids to bump into.
You have four teeth. And seem to have a gnarly under bite..uhoh.
You love bath time. When the tub it turned on you quickly try to climb in with your clothes on. We have to act fast to get you in there. You love splashing and waving your hands through the running water. You recently began laying on your tummy and carefully touching your lips to the water, and you sometimes drink the water/choke on the water. You're great about getting water in your face. We purposely began pouring water over your head about the time you started sitting up so you'd get used to it. It worked. You just have a wide-eyed face for a split second then go back to playing.
You do not like having things taken away from you. You throw a fit and it's pretty frustrating that you don't understand what's going on.
You go to bed around 7:30pm and wake around 7:30am. You take one afternoon nap for 1.5 to 2 hours.
You like OJ, fig newtons, pasta bites, apples, pears, dried green beans, and much more.
You enjoy pulling things out of my purse, bringing me bags of chips from the pantry (b/c they're on the lowest shelf),  banging on the dryer and washing machine, digging through the cabinets.
The best time of the day is when dad comes home. Recently since I've been feeling icky I'll just be lying/sitting on the couch when dad comes in. Dad makes a grand entrance with one of the following, or all. He may yell/scream a crazy scream, somersault into the living room, or hide then jump out. You scream back in delight and run as fast as you can to dad. You then start wrestling and tickling and screaming more.
Speaking of me lying on the couch...since I'll been feeling icky with this second pregnancy you've really become attached to dada. I don't blame you. He feeds you, bathes you, changes your diaper, and all around entertains you. It's a sweet bond and I'm glad he's so attentive to you! Even if I weren't sick and a lump on a log I'm sure you would still be super attached to your dad because he is just that awesome.
Sean, you are a joy and I look forward to many more years and memories with you!

Update on my acupuncture treatment:  I had an appointment Monday (6th session) and Wednesday this week. On Monday Thomas went with me to ask the Dr. questions. I'm not comfortable asking "why isn't this working!?" So Thomas came into the treatment room and asked his questions. The doctor agreed that if I do not see improvement by Friday I should stop. For most people it takes 4-6 treatments to see a difference. After Mondays session I was still the same. After Wednesday session I was still the same-ish. I did have a few good moments Wednesday evening. Good meaning I was not feeling the queasy/super full stomach sensation I usually do. I went to bed fine that night. Thursday morning I had my two scrambled eggs and some milk, then felt kinda off. Went to work a little late, cause I snuggled with Sean too long in bed =). For lunch today Thomas, I and a few of his coworkers went to a Chinese buffet. I tried to balance fresh foods (unprocessed) with the battered, buttered food. There is not much fresh food at a Chinese buffet! I had some California rolls that were pretty good. I tried not to stuff myself. But I think I did, I still feel stuffed a few hours later. Darn that rice! But overall I feel pretty good. I'm really hoping the acupuncture kicked in and Fridays session may seal the deal! But I'm also nearing 12 weeks. And I think typically relief comes around that time. But last time with Sean it lasted past the first trimester. We'll just have to see!

Things I've been craving but definitely don't want to try eating:
BBQ from Rudy's
fried pickles
chips and salsa

gah, i'm so stuffed right now I can't think of food, haha!

On the weather front it's still pretty cold, no ice or snow at my house or work. Possibility of snow tonight and tomorrow which would be awesome, but I know I'll still have to come into work.

Stay warm people!!
